Zahorka, John Joseph (5 July 1885 - 21 May 1954) 
 

John Joseph Zahorka, 68, of Neillsville, Rt. 3, died Wednesday, May 19, at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, where he had been a patient since March 18, 1954.  A stroke was the immediate cause of death. 
 

Funeral Services in charge of the Bergemann Funeral Home were held Friday, May 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Peter Leketas officiating. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery at Milan, Wis. 
 

Mr. Zahorka was born July 5, 1885, to John and Theresa (Cerney) Zahorka at Milwaukee.  When he was a small boy his parents moved to Dorchester, Wis., and in 1920 the family moved to Milan, where he worked as a scaler in a sawmill and also did carpenter work. Two years ago he came to Neillsville and made his home with his niece, Mrs. Arnold Hoppa of Rt. 3.  Mr. Zahorka never married.  He is survived by several nieces and nephews. 
 

Pallbearers were: Hubert Bodwin, Herman Dux, Henry Heiman, John Schrieber, Tony Vesely and Mike Nehring. 
 

Out of town friends and relatives attending the Neillsville services were: Mrs. Anna Dunne, Waupaca; Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel Zahorka, Milan; Mrs. Mary Schade, Colby; Emil Schade, Sheridan; Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Decker, Athens; Mrs. Henry Brandt and Dennis of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. George Krepsky and Lynn, Colby; Tony Vesely, Milan; Mike Nehring, Edgar; John Schrieber, Milan. 
 

Those attending graveside services at Milan from Neillsville were: Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hoppa and son, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dux, Hubert Bodwin and Henry Heiman.
