Walters, Mrs. John (? - 1911)

[first part of article cut off]

. . . . came to Wisconsin, living with relatives in Milwaukee and Sparta.

A few years later she came to what was then known as Staffordville in Clark County, where she met John Walters, whom she married.

Five children were born to them, a son and two daughters, three of whom survive their parents, Mrs. George Larsen, Mrs. Louis Buddenhagen and Miss Julia Walters, all of Neillsville.

Mrs. Walters was a woman of rare qualities and her death is a sad loss to the community.  She was a true friend, a kind neighbor and a devoted wife and mother.

Although for the past few years her health had been failing, her death came as a shock to her many friends.  She had undergone a severe operation in June, but was rapidly recovering her strength and was again able to be about, having attended the county fair and seen many of her old friends and acquaintances, and the news of her sudden demise came as a painful surprise to many who had not even known of her illness.

The funeral was held Monday at the home, Rev. Burrows conducting the services.

Relatives from out of town who were present were: Mrs. S. Welsh and son, James, of Wishek, N.D., David Cushing and son, James of Wilson, Wis., Mrs. H. Conley of Whitehall, Wis., and David Cushing, Jr., of Biwabik, Minn.
