Schopper, Joan (Marriage - 11 Oct. 1958) 
 

Preceding a nuptial high mass at St. Louis’ Catholic church at Dorchester, Saturday morning, Miss Joan Schopper and Donald D. Kempf exchanged marriage vows. The Rev. Gerald Schuh witnessed the double ring ceremony at 10:30 o’clock. 
 

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Schopper, of Dorchester, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kempf, of Wausau. 
 

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of taffeta and rose point lace. The molded bodice of taffeta was cut to a v at the waistline. The lace yoke with Peter Pan collar was trimmed with iridescent sequins and seed pearls. The long taffeta sleeves with lace cuffs closed with taffeta covered buttons. Tiers of taffeta with scalloped lace edging with sequins and pearl trim detailed the bouffant taffeta skirt with its panel front. 
 

The lace crown which held her silk illusion, finger tip veil, matched her dress and was trimmed with iridescent sequins and seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink carnations centered with a white orchid. 
 

Attending the bride was her sister, Miss Dorothy Schopper, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the Misses Ellen and Patricia Kempf, sisters of the groom, of Wausau; Miss Gertrude Dahlke of Edgar and Miss Bernice Southworth, of Owen, friends of the bride. 
 

They wore gowns fashioned alike of two tone coral with molded bodice and bateau neckline and short sleeves. The darker tone was used in panels in the ballerina skirts and as a bow and streamers at the back. They carried baskets of fall mums with a ribbon bow matching the gowns. The maid of honor wore a white feather hat and veil while the bridesmaids wore a similar head dress to match their gowns. 
 

Donald Hess of Wausau, Jerome Reynolds of Dorchester, Charles Wadjinski of Marathon, La Verne Ruplinger of Wausau, were the groom’s attendants. Larry Grewe of Marathon and Clarence Adamski of Dorchester were ushers. 
 

About 300 guests joined the new Mr. and Mrs. Kempf at a breakfast served in the church dining room and again at supper there. During the day, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Jerome Reynolds. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at Rib River Ballroom. 
 

After a week’s honeymoon trip to Michigan, the bride, a graduate of Taylor County Teachers’ College, will return to her teaching duties at the Unity grade school. The groom is employed at the Marathon Corporation, Wausau, where they will reside. 
 

Guests from away who attended the wedding came from Omaha, Neb., Waukegan, Ill., Minneapolis, Ottowa, Rothschild, Schofield, Medford, Owen, Edgar, Wausau, Unity, Colby, Marshfield, Athens, and Abbotsford.
