Hannan, Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. (50th anniversary (20 OCT 1946)

Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Hannan of Loyal celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 20.

A high mass with the Rev. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer officiating, was read at 10 o’clock in their honor. The main altar was artistically decorated with yellow chrysanthemums for the occasion.

The anniversary dinner was served for the immediate family and Father Zinthefer as guest, at their farm home in the town of Loyal, now managed by their eldest son, Ray, his wife and family. The dining room was prettily decorated with yellow and white streamers, and the three tiered yellow and white frosted wedding cake centered the table.

In the afternoon cards were played, and lunch was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Hannan were both born in Dodge county. Prior to their wedding on Oct. 21, 1896, in St. Killian’s Catholic churchy at Hartford by the Rev. Fr. Bertram, Mrs. Hannan taught schools in Dodge and Washington counties for 10 years. They moved to Clark county in 1902 and were engaged in farming until two years ago, when they purchased a home in the village, where they now reside.

The Hannan’s have four children: Mrs. Ed (Florence) Bertz of Loyal; Ray, now on the home farm; Wilbert, manager of an ice cream parlor in Beloit, and Mrs. Alois (Elinore) Stange of Athens, who with their families, were present for the occasion. There are 19 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Hannan received a number of gifts, cards, and sums of money from their guests and friends.
