Podobnik, Mildred  (26 OCT 1946)

A very pretty fall wedding was solemnized at the Family Catholic church at Willard on Saturday, Oct. 26, when Miss Mildred Podobnik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Podobnik of Greenwood, became the bride of Ernest Arch, son of Louis Arch, also of Greenwood. The Rev. Fr. Bernard Ambrozic officiated at the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with candles and flowers. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The bride wore a gown with a white satin bodice and a full net skirt, long white gloves and a finger tip veil of illusion. For her jewelry she wore a heart-shaped locket, a gift of the groom. Her bouquet was of white and pink carnations.

She was attended by Miss Angeline Arch, sister of the groom, who wore an aqua dress, fashioned with a satin bodice and a full net skirt. She carried a bouquet of yellow and white mums. The groom was attended by Emil Podobnik, brother of the bride. Both men wore black suits.

A reception for 100 guests was held at the home of the bride’s parents at 6:30 p.m., and a dance was held in Willard in the evening. The home was decorated with white and aqua streamers and a three tiered wedding cake centered the bride’s table.

The bride is a graduate of the Greenwood high school with the class of 1941 and the groom with the class of 1940, "Ernie" played second base for the Loyal Blackhawks during the 1946 season.

The newlyweds enjoyed a honeymoon in the southern part of Wisconsin and are now at home on the groom’s farm, southwest of Greenwood.
