Funeral services were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church here on Monday morning for William J. Wagner, 83, who passed away at the Stanley Hospital on Friday, May 6th, 1955 of old age infirmities.  For the past five years he had been residing in the city at the Hallanger Hotel.

Mr. Wagner returned to Thorp in 1920 and spent the intervening years farming the the town of Reseburg and Worden, until his retirement in 1950.

He is survived by one brother, George of West Bend, Washington, two sisters, Theresa, Mrs. Mike Heiser of Stanley, and Frances, Mrs. Julius Rasmussen of Thorp, five nephews and four nieces.

He was laid to rest in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Albert Wink, Alfred Kass, Wm. Keller, Anton Keller, Frank Schmidt and Robert Broeren.
