Albena Celesnik, 94, passed away on Nov. 25, 2009, at Dove Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation, Eau Claire. A memorial gathering will be held on  Saturday, Dec. 26, in Willard.


Albena Gabrovic was born on Aug. 9, 1915, to Lucas and Louise Gabrovic, in Willard. She married John Celesnik on Nov. 2, 1940, and they farmed near Willard until his death in 1959, after which she moved to Greenwood and two years later to Eau Claire. She worked for many years at Mount Washington Home.


Survivors include her daughters, Gloria  (Michael Plautz), Minneapolis, and Marion Celesnik (Garvin Gordon), Madison; a granddaughter, Andrea Plautz (Scott Folland); and great-granddaughter, Zoe Folland, Kigali, Rwanda; a sister, Louise Wren, Neillsville; sisters-in-law, Stephie Gabrovic, Neillsville, Elaine Gabrovic, Conrath, and Margaret Gabrovic, Mascoutah, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.


Preceding her in death were her husband, John; three brothers, Ignac, John and Frank Gabrovic; a sister, Cecelia Wehrman; three half-brothers, Luke, Joe and Auygust Gabrovic; and a half-sister, Mary Cirone.
