Wegner, Herman (11 May 1870 - 2 January 1956) 
 

From Chippewa Falls, The Press receives announcement of the death on Monday of Herman C. Wegner, proprietor of the Chippewa Hotel, long a resident of the Neillsville and Granton areas.  Mr. Wegner ran the Merchants Hotel in Neillsville several years; was in similar business in Granton; bought the Chippewa Hotel in 1923.  He had also been long in the ice business in Neillsville. 
 

Mr. Wegner was born May 11, 1870 in Germany; came to the United States in 1884; settled on a farm near Neillsville; Married Otelia Yankee of Lynn in 1907. 
 

Surviving are his wife; one son, R. C. (Bus) Wegner of Chippewa Falls and four daughters by a previous marriage, Mrs. Mabel Pinchon of McAllen, Texas; Mrs. C. A. Wilke of De Pere, Wis.; Mrs. Myron Hill, Huntington, Ind.; and Mrs. Leo Colbourn of Wisconsin Rapids; two grandsons, Lieut. John H. Wegner, stationed at St. Louis, Mo, and Billy Colbourn who is stationed in Okinawa.  
 

He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. 
 

Mr. Wegner was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Germany.   
 

Interment on Thursday was to be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
