Morarend, Janice (23 JUL 1955)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Huron Saturday, July 23, 1955, was the scene of a 10 a.m. wedding ceremony in which Miss Janice Morarend, daughter of Henry Morarend, Gilman, became the bride of Gerald William Lang, son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Lang, Minneapolis, Minn.  The Rev. Father Kaim officiated at the nuptial mass which followed the exchange of vows.

The former Miss Morarend was given in marriage by her father.  She wore a floor length gown of white satin, net and lace fashioned with a high Queen Anne collar and long tapering sleeves.  Her veil was secured by a crown of mother of pearl forget-me-nots, centered with rhinestones.  She wore the groom’s gift, a gold cross, and carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations tied with a wide satin ribbon.

For her role as junior bridesmaid, Miss Kay Krupa, Gilman, a niece of the bride, wore a floor length gown of lime green nylon dotted Swiss over taffeta.  She carried a bouquet of salmon colored glads.

The other two aides, Virginia Grant, Minneapolis, and Charlotte Turek, Gilman, both friends of the bride, wore identically styled frocks of lace and net over taffeta.  Miss Grant’s dress was orchid and Miss Turek’s was yellow.  They carried matching color glads in their colonial bouquets.

Dale Raths, Davenport, Ia., a friend of the groom, performed the duties of best man, and another friend, Louis Turek, Gilman, was groomsman.

For her son’s wedding, Mrs. Lang wore a yellow linen dress and a corsage of roses and white carnations.

A reception and wedding dance at Koolmo’s Club, Gilman, feted the newlyweds.  Dinner was served to 100 guests.  Out of towners present included Mr. and Mrs. John Lang, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Ketter, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lang, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Crample, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Crample and Barbara, Martin and Frank Newburger, Joe Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Kurschbum, Misses Sharon and Jeannen Thullner, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Morarend, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bacherding, Guttenberg, Ia., Otto Raths, Davenport, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cole and family, Belvidere, Ill.

After a week’s trip through several western states, the couple will make their home in Minneapolis where the groom is employed by the J. C. Signal Co.  Both are graduates of Gilman High School.  Prior to her marriage the bride was employed at Drangle’s Foods, Gilman.
