Mikolainis, Janet (9 AUG 1955)

Miss Janet Mikolainis became the bride of Wenzel Zais at a nuptial High Mass at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at Thorp on Tuesday morning, Aug. 9th, 1955.  The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Francis Piekarski.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gedmon Mikolainis of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Zais of Boyd.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a gown of Schiffli embroidered nylon tulle over net and taffeta, the bouffant skirt having an overskirt over ruffled tiers of nylon tulle, the bodice designed with a shirred tulle neckline and short sleeves with matching gauntlets.  Her fingertip veil fell from an open crown scoop of lace and pleated tulle with sequin and pearl trim.  She carried a cascade bouquet of Joanna Hill roses.

The maid of honor was Kathleen Mikolainis, the bride’s sister, and the junior bridesmaid was Suzette Mikolainis, also a sister of the bride.  They wore gowns of mint green nylon net with an off shoulder draped bodice, the skirt having a double layer of net over taffeta and matching braided net headpieces.  Their bouquets consisted of red sweetheart roses and white carnations.

Edward Swatzina, friend of the groom, was the best man.

Dinner was served at St. Hedwig’s Chapel dining room and the reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.

Upon their return from a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, the couple will reside at 218 ½ Fourth Avenue, Stanley, where the groom is employed by the Al Berseth Transfer.
