Waichulis, Adam (24 DEC 1883 - 9 AUG 1955)

 

Adam Waichulis passed away at the Victory Memorial Hospital on Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, 1955, of cerebral hemorrhage.  The deceased was born in Lithuania Dec. 24, 1883, and had reached the age of 72 years.

 

At the age of 21 years he joined the Russian army where he served 5 years.  he came to America in 1908 and worked in the copper mines of Michigan.  Here he met and later married Mrs. Lena Gavenesky in 1915.  To this union one child was born.  In 1929 they moved to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) and settled on a farm in the Town of Withee where he resided at the time of his death.  His wife Lena preceded him in death May 26, 1952.

 

He is survived by one son, Joseph of the town of Withee, and two grandchildren; also two step-daughters, Anna, Mrs. Alex Griban of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lena, Mrs. Adolph Conta of Stambaugh, Mich.; one step-son, Tony of Elbert, W. Va.; three brothers, Tony, Frank and Charles of Chicago.

 

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Parish at 10 o’clock Friday, Aug. 12th.  The Rev. Piekarski, Rev. Knapka and the assistant priest of the parish conducted the services, with interment in the parish cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Stanley Wargolet, Stanley Mamayek, Stanley Malecki, Felix Mroz, Joseph Zuzelski and William Urban.

 

Out of town people who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Tony Waichulis and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waichulis and Frank Waichulis, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Conta and son of Stambaugh, Mich.; Mrs. Alex Griban of Cleveland, Ohio, and Tony Waichulis of Elbert, W. Va.
