Dux, Verland  (09 MARCH, 1916-14 JAN 2010)

 

Verland R. Dux, 93, Loyal, died on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Golden Living Center Continental Manor, Abbotsford. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial followed in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Tom Meyer, Tim Meyer, Dennis Meyer, Tony Meyer, Craig Dux, Ryan Dux, Weston Dux, Jody Jasurda, Mark Jasurda, and Nicholas Merlene.

 

Verland Richard Dux was born on March 9, 1916, in the town of York, to Frank and Hilda (nee Wegner) Dux. He was raised on a farm south of Loyal. He attended Pleasant View School and graduated from Loyal High School in 1930. After completing his education, he remained on the home farm until he married Laura Noeldner at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, on Nov. 24, 1945. They started out farming by renting a farm south of Loyal until they purchased a farm west of Loyal, on Highway 98, in November1951. In 1977, they moved back to the home farm, south of Loyal. After retiring, the traveled to visit family and took trips to Germany and Alaska. In August 2008, they moved to Marshfield to live with their daughter, Kathy. He was admitted to Golden Living Center, Abbotsford, on Jan. 2, where he resided until his death.

 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was active in the Adult Fellowship and Lutheran Brotherhood. He also enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Laura, for many years.

 

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Laura, Marshfield; seven children, Judy (Rich) Meyer, Unity, Jim Dux, Loyal, Ken (Eileen) Dux, Menominee Falls, Kathy (Steve) Jasurda, Marshfield, Ron Dux, Dallas, Texas, Rick (Dina) Dux, Hurst, Texas, and Cheri (John) Merlene, Highland Village, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; two granddaughters, Vicky and Becky Meyer, and one brother, Erwin Dux.
