Zahradka, Michael Gabriel (6 May 1899 - 2 February 1957) 
 

Funeral services for Mike Zahradka, 57, long-time Granton rural mail carrier and a one-time teacher, were held Monday morning from St. Mary’s Church, Neillsville, with the Rev. Fr. Peter J. Leketas officiating.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery. 
 

Mr. Zahradka died suddenly last Saturday morning in Marshfield, where he had gone for a physical examination.  Death was attributed to a heart attack. 
 

The son of Ludvik and Marie (Denk) Zahradka, Michael Gabriel Zahradka was born May 6, 1899, in Wood County. He was graduated from the Wisconsin Rapids High School and attended Wood County Normal School there. 
 

For a time he worked as a mining engineer in the iron mines at International Falls, Minn.; but returned to Wisconsin in 1920 to make his home at Granton. 
 

He was married on June 20, 1929, to Miss Ann Bladl of Granton, the ceremony taking place in St. Mary’s Church, Neillsville. 
 

Surviving are Mrs. Zahradka and the following children: Mrs. Donald (Mary Ann) Gaisson of Big Springs, Tex.; Mrs. Richard (Elizabeth) Eibergen of Granton; Caroline and Michael William of Eau Clarie, and Rosa Lee and Barbara Jean at home.  Also surviving are a grandchild, and the following brothers and sisters: Joseph of Madison; Louis of Osceola; Frank of South St. Paul, Minn.; Peter of Milwaukee; Anton of Marshfield; and Miss Ann Zahradka of Chili. 
 

Pallbearers were: Aloys Nikolai, Joseph J. Wavrunek, Walter Trimberger, Erhardt Witte, Gust Bergemann and Bernard Pietenpol. 
 

Relatives attended the services from South St. Paul, Minn., Bloomington, Marshfield, Eau Claire, Osceola, Chili, Owen, Withee, Loyal and Manitowoc.
