Plockelman, Marvin C. (March 5, 1915 - Thursday, January 28, 2010)

Marvin C. Plockelman, 94, died peacefully on Thursday,  January 28, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Pahrump, Nevada, where he had resided since December 1, 2009.

The son of Carl and Laura Fierke Plockelman, Marvin was born March 5, 1915, in Dorchester.

He attended Hilltop Grade School and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1933.

He married the love-of-his-life, Edith Beisner, on May 21, 1941, and she preceded him in death on January 26, 1987.

He resided on the home farm for 85 years, and then moved to Las Vegas to live with his daughter Beverly and her husband Curt.  After Curt's death, they moved to Pahrump near Bev's son, Donnie.

Along with farming, Marvin worked for the Town of Mayville operating heavy equipment.  He served on the town board, and was in later years  the accessor for the Town of Mayville.

Marvin enjoyed life.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading, playing cards and traveling.  He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and grandfather.  The grandkids loved spending summers with him and Grandma - fishing and swimming in the pond he built.  They enjoyed his stories about the steam engine and threshing machine which he and his dad used to thresh oats for many farmers in the Dorchester area.

He was a life-long member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Dorchester.

Marvin is survived by four children, Sharon (Allan) Kramer, Bruce, Janice Sanchez, Aurora, Colo., Victor (Bonnie) Plockelman, Ladysmith,  and Beverly Kellerman, Pahrump, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He  was preceded in death by his wife Edith; sisters Katherine Sampson, Margaret Oelke, Irene Lindau; and  sons-in-law, Stafford Morisset, Curt Kellerman and Floyd Sanchez.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church at a later date.  Marvin's family requests memorials be given  to St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

The Pahrump Family Mortuary, Pahrump, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
