Kakkonnen, Maria (15 FEB 1882 - 26 JAN 1955)

Funeral services for Mrs. Maria Kakkonen, 72, will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.  The Rev. John F. Saarinen; pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen, will officiate, and burial will be made at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Henry Cass, Victor Mattila, John Siikarla, Sander Warunen, Solomon Laakso and Ted Lindstrom.  In charge of the floral offerings will be Mrs. Henry Cass and Mrs. Solomon Laakso.

Musical selections will be rendered by Mrs. John F. Saarinen.

The deceased was born on Feb. 15, 1882, in Finland.  She came to America when a young lady and on the 8th of July, 1911, was united in marriage to Kalle Kakkonen in a ceremony performed in Minneapolis, Minn.

In 1914 the couple moved to this vicinity (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), settling on a farm in the town of Beaver where they lived and farmed prosperously until 1944 when they sold their farm, returning to Minneapolis.  Here they resided for four years when they again returned to the Owen community, purchasing a small farm on the north city limits in the town of Hixon where they have since resided.  It was here that Mrs. Kakkonen passed away last night, suffering from a heart condition.
