Swenson, Ida (22 MAY 1887 - 5 MAY 1955)

Injuries sustained early Wednesday morning, May 4, in a fall down the basement steps of her rural home proved fatal to Ida Swenson.  She passed away at 2:30 a.m., May 5, 1955, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, where she had been rushed in the city ambulance.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Mt. Horeb, Wis., and burial made in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery.

Ida Swenson was born to Ole and Alice Luraas on May 22, 1887.  She was baptized and confirmed in East Blue Mounds Church.  She was united in marriage to Samuel Swenson, who preceded her in death, having passed away suddenly in 1938.

She resided in the Mt. Horeb area until about 1943 when she moved to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), coming here to care for her brother’s children at his farm home near Longwood.  It was here that she met her fatal accident.

At the time of her death she was 67 years, 11 months and 18 days of age.

Those who survive her are two sisters, Mrs. Barney (Helen) Anderson of West Allis, Wis., and Mrs. John (Alma) Nelson, Lake Mills, Wis.; three brothers, Herman and Henry of Withee, and Clarence, Mt. Horeb; many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
