Tomlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (Golden - 1 July 1958)

Forty-six gathered for dinner and supper recently in observance of the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Tomlinson of Christie. Family-style meals were served at the home of their son, Jess, near Greenwood.

Present were their two sons and two daughters: Homer, Campbellsport; Jess, Greenwood; Mrs. Peter (Pauline) Strangfeld, Neillsville; and Mrs. Lester (Violet) Ross, Osseo. Twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and two sisters of Mrs. Tomlinson were present, Mrs. Mae McCrady and Mrs. Maude Smith of Decatur, Ill.

Among the guests were nieces and nephews of the couple.  They were Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Smith, Elkhart, Ill., and Mrs. Freddie Strue, St. Louis, Mo.

Other relatives and friends were from Neillsville, Milwaukee, Marshfield, Chippewa Falls, Chicago and Hampshire, Ill.

The couple received many gifts and a purse of money.  The table was decorated with a big five tier wedding cake.

Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinson were married July 1, 1908, and have farmed in the states of Arkansas and Illinois, moving to Willard in 1922, where they farmed until 16 years ago when they moved to Milwaukee, where Mr. Tomlinson had employment for 11 years.  In 1953 they purchase a home near Christie, where they now live.

The celebration was held at this time to enable relatives from away to attend.
