Raatz, William (13 February 1903 - 20 August 1958) 
 

William Raatz, 55, died suddenly at his home in Unity at 9:40 August 20. 
 

He was born in the Town of Green Grove February 13, 1903.  He was married to Josephine Stowe August 2, 1939, at Unity. 
 

MR. Raatz farmed in the towns of Unity and Beaver all of his life.  He lived at his present farm home for the past seven years. 
 

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Luella, at home; a sister, Miss Anne Raatz, Owen; five brothers, Otto and Edward of Owen, Bernard of Spencer, Robert of Burlington, and Ernest of Mercer.  His step-father, John Augustine, also survives.  
 

Funeral services were held from the Loyal Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Charles Attwood officiating. Burial was made in the Beaver Town Cemetery. 
 

Pallbearers were: John Stowe, Chester Hebert, Ulysses Cain, Ray Lloyd, Alfred Schultz, and Gerhard Scheel. 

 

Flower girls were Margaret Braun, Jeanette Laabs, Rita Lloyd, Verna Raatz, Patsy Raatz, and Joanne Raatz.  The hymns, "In The Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset," were sung by Miss Nelda Foelske.  Miss Julianne Vajgrt was organist.  
 

Out of town people attending were from Illinois, Burlington, Mercer, Spencer, Owen, Colby, Unity, Melrose, and Wisconsin Rapids.
