Schmidtke, Luanne (Marriage - 1958)

Miss Luanne Schmidtke of Granton became the bride of Harvey Spangler of Neillsville Saturday in a double ring ceremony performed in York Center Methodist Church by the Rev. Wendell Bennetts of Plainfield.  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmidtke of Granton and the groom is the son of Mrs. Philip Spangler of Neillsville.

A hopped floor-length gown of lace panels and tulle over white satin with fitted bodice, styled with a scalloped neckline edged with sequins, was worn by the bride. The fingertip veil cascaded from a crown headpiece trimmed with rhinestones, pearls and sequins. She carried a bridal bouquet of yellow roses and white ‘mums.

The bride, given in marriage by her father was attended by her sister, Miss Novita Schmidtke, as maid of honor.  Miss Rita Spangler, sister of the groom, was her bridesmaid.

The groom was attended by his brother, James Spangler, as bestman.  Harvey Degenhardt and Ronald Freedlund served as groomsmen, and Algene Schmidtke, brother of the bride, ushered.

Approximately 100 guests attended the reception held at the bride’s home.

Their home for the next three months will be at Ft. Sheridan, Ill., where the groom is stationed.  Both are graduates of Loyal High School.  The bride has been employed at Highland Park, Ill., for the past three years.  Mr. Spangler also is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in chemical engineering.
