Smith, Della Mae (06 JULY 1879-23 JULY 1947)

Mrs. William W. Smith, 68, of Chili, who, with her husband, observed their golden wedding anniversary earlier last month, died late Wednesday evening, July 23, at the Neillsville hospital. A complication of ailments caused her death.

Mrs. Smith, the former Della Mae Pizer, was born in Delaware county, Indiana, on July 8, 1879. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Richland county, Wisconsin, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to William W. Smith on July 3, 1897. Soon after that they moved to Clark county. In 1928-29 they made their home in the village of Loyal, leaving here to return to their farm. Recently, for a few years, they were again residents of Loyal, making their home at the Rahm residence. A few months ago they went to Chili to live at the home of a daughter.

The Rev. Lee Holmes conducted the funeral services at the Gilbertson funeral home in Granton at 2: 30 p.m. Saturday, July 26. Mrs. Ray Prior and Mrs. Calkvin Prior sang the hymns, with Miss LaVonne Smith as accompanist.

Others from here who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. William Essex, Mr. and Mrs.Clyde Grambach, and Mrs. Charles Rahm and Mrs, Simon Noah.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Dulce Wanless of Maple Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Sydney (Bernice) Worrall of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. William (Mildred) Dankemyer of Chili. The five children preceding her in death were Scott, Alice, Ray, Lewis and Milton. Other survivors are 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren  and two brothers, Fred Pizer of Richland Center and Milan Pizer of Portland, Ore. Two sisters, Mrs. W. J. Spry and Mrs. Emma Brouette, are dead. To the survivors, The Tribune extends its sympathy.
