Lindsley, Henry (Welterweight champion - May 1, 1912)

Henry Lindsley of Neillsville, welterweight champion of Wisconsin, won his handicap match with Young Miller of St. Paul, who claims the welterweight championship of the world, at the Grand opera house last evening.  There was a very small attendance and Miller, who had agreed to throw Lindsley twice in one and one-half hours, refused to go on with the match.  The situation was explained to the audience by Lindsley and the information given that Miller would agree to work only one hour, forfeiting the match if he did not throw Lindsley once in that time.  The audience agreed to this and the men went to the mat.  Miller was the heaver by several pounds and was agile as a cat, but Lindsley apparently had little trouble in breaking his holds.  The pace was fast and furious and those present were treated to a splendid exhibition of mat work.  Lindsley contented himself with working on the defensive most of the time and was in danger only a few times.  At the end of the hour the match was stopped and Lindsley declared the winner. - Wausau Record-Herald
