Eidsvold News

W. R. Allen purchased a buggy of Stanley parties Thursday. T. K. Christopherson raised an addition to his barn Memorial day.

Mrs. Geo. Huls returned from her visit to Hollandtown last week.

Edwin Warner, of Buckhoms, is now in the employ of W. O. Calkins.

Miss Gerty Storey closed her school for the summer at Tioga on Tuesday.

P. Rasmussen also commemorated Memorial day by raising his new barn. Mrs. Netta Warner went to Withee Monday and returned the same day.

S. S. Warner and wife drove to Stanley last Wednesday to visit J. O. Warner and wife.

Nora Ogle came home from Loyal last week accompanied by a friend from that place.

Mrs. J. Hayton of Stanley spent last week with her daughter Mrs. E. W. Starks.

Uncle Jack Sanders of the Waupaca Veterans home is paying his numerous friends here a visit.

Mr. and Mrs. Vandehey who live in Oregon have been recent visitors at the Geo. Huls home.

Mrs. Belle Butler of Stanley, is visiting j at the home of her sister Mrs. E. W. Starks in Roger Creek.

There was a happy social party at the j home of W. O. Calkins, in honor of his birthday, Saturday evening.

John Norton, of Boyd aud Wm. Tiunison of East Worden were Sunday visitors at B. Warner’s on Townline.

Misses Edna and Jessie Searcy of Maplehurst visited with Eidsvold friends from Thursday until Monday.

Reuben Warden and wife, John Smart and Mrs. Sarah Ferdon went to Pike lake on a fishing excursion Saturday.

There were parties at Geo. Loper’s and Ned Warden’s Saturday evening. A good time is reported from both places.

Mrs. Hazel Wright of Minneapolis is a visitor at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. M. McCafferty, in Roger Creek.

Adda Storey went to Hannibal last Thursday to see her sister, Mrs. Nora Buyette who was seriously ill at the home of her brother T. W. Warner.

The following from here attended Memorial day exercises in Thorp: S. S. Warner B. Warner and W. R. Allen with their respective wives, Ernest and John Evenson, Roy Warner, Eva Wood and I. P. Drake.

The Memorial program announced last week was carried out in a most successful and entertaining manner. At the close of the exercises in the church, the assemblage headed by the Veterans, Ladies of the W. R. C. and Sons of Veterans formed in line and marched to the cemetery where the graves of the six deceased veterans were decorated by six little girls in white. The Sons of Veterans performed their ritualistic work at the close of the ceremonies. The following veterans were present S. S. Warner, and I. P. Drake of this place, B. J. Brown of Thorp and Leff Johnson of Stanley

Worden News (1913)

Cora Gillman returned home from Owen Sunday

A baby girl arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Henderson, May 28. Born to Prof. and Mrs. J. H. Mills of Loyal, formerly of this place, May 31, a baby boy.

Mrs. Jos. Felix has been very ill the past week. Dr. Chamberlin of Stanley is in attendance.

Archie Fountain arrived in Worden Saturday evening with a carload of farming implements and live stock.

John Verkuilen and Chas. Mortensen were out in cur end of town Wednesday selling road jobs. Several more jobs are to be sold on the new road south of the school house.

Messrs. O. W. Henderson, J. N. Reppert, Jacob Winkler and Philip Goshaw went to Pike Lake Tuesday on a fishing trip. They drove up in the O. Henderson car returning Tuesday evening. We have not learned of the outcome of their trip yet.
