Fields, Gilbert (23 JULY 1935-23 FEB 2010)

 

Gilbert W, Fields, 74, Loyal, died on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh. Funeral services were held at 2 p,m. on Monday, March 1, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal. The Rev. Anthony Sari officiated. Services were also held at 1 p.m , on Tuesday, March 2, at the East Delavan Baptist Church. The Rev. Anthony Sari officiated. Interment was in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Lake Geneva. Military honors were provided by Post 95, Delavan.

 

Gilbert W. Fields was born on July 23, 1935, to Clarence and Gladys (nee Gebel) Fields in the town of Cleveland. He was known as Dad, Grandpa, Gib and Gil by his family and friends. He enjoyed his freedom and proudly served in the United States Army from 1956-60. He worked many years doing factory work and maintained a farm at the same time. He moved to Texas in 1982, where he was a delivery driver for a casket company.

 

He enjoyed the simple things in life, such as the melodious songs of birds, the sunrise and sunset, the smell of a campfire, the falling of the leaves and especially enjoyed outings with family and friends. He was a charter member and deacon of the Lakeland Baptist Church, Lake Geneva, as well as bus captain there and in Texas. He served the Lord after he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1972. He wanted all his family and friends to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior before they pass into eternity. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

 

Survivors include his seven children, John (Cheryl) Fields, Linda (Kurt) Holtz, Mike Fields, Karen (Roger) Stertz, James Fields, Steve Fields and Matthew Fields.; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Ollie (Leroy) Helmbrecht, Gerald (Betty) Fields, Martha (Richard) Schiller, Terry (Donna) Fields, Alice (Raymond) Morrison, Donna (Leon) Anderson, Joel (Kay) Fields, and Jennifer Lovejoy; and other relatives, family and friends.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clarence and Gladys; his sister, DePhane; three brothers, David Fields, George Fields and Jerry Fields.
