Herbert Schwantes, 93, Spencer, Died on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services were held 11 a.m., on Friday, March 26, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, McMillan. The Rev. Doug Westenburg officiated.


Herbert Schwantes was born on Aug. 10, 1916, in the town of Brighton, to Ferdiand and Martha (nee Mellintine) Schwantes. He was employed with the Farm Co-op in Spencer until his retirement. On Sept 24, 1949, he married Eloise Pischer. He was a proud member ofd the United States Army, serving in World War ll. He enjoyed fishing, Playing cards and gardening. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife to different states. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the town of McMillan.


He is lovingly survived by his wife, Eloise; ,any nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He will truly be missed.


Preceding him in death were his parents, Ferdinand and Martha; one brother and six sisters.
