Zawacki, Ann J. (2 December 1921 - 22 March 2010) 
 

Ann J. Zawacki, 88, loving mother and grandmother, of Rockford, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Bickford House of Rockford.  
 

She was born on December 2, 1921, in Chicago, receiving her Bachelors of Science in 1950, and went on to Taylor Teacher College, graduating in 1958. 
 

She was married on July 3, 1950, to her beloved husband, Frank H. Zawacki, who preceded her in death on January 1, 2009.  Frank and Ann lived the first 13 years of their married life in Withee/Thorp, Wisconsin.  Frank farmed and Ann taught first grade at Owen School.  Later Ann was a teacher for the Rockford School District, teaching at Whitehead and Rolling Green Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Teachers Union, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers’ Sorority.  
 

A long time member of St. Rita Catholic Church and St. Rita VIP Seniors’ Club, she served as Social Chair for many years. She enjoyed shopping, gardening and traveling.  She was also an avid reader, card player and liked to work on puzzles.  Although Ann was a full-time teacher, she was also a full-time mom and a wonderful, caring woman and will be missed by all.   
 

Survivors include her daughters, Alice Leppert-Jung (Marlin Jung) of Madison and Donna Soltys (Dr. Brian) of Rockford; grandchildren; Doug and Brent Soltys and Abby and Brian Jung (step-grandson). 
 

Funeral Mass is at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 17, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Drive, with Monsignor Kobbeman officiating.  Inurnment will be at Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be for a fund established at a later date.
