Adolph Louis Koltis was born on August 30, 1927, in Thorp, WI, the son of Anton and Josephine (Kosnowicz) Koltis.  He grew up in the Town of Reseburg and attended Thorp area schools.  Adolph drove milk truck for Meske’s Cheese Factory and then moved to California, where he worked for Western Dairy.  He was drafted into the U. S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict, where he was decorated with two Purple Hearts. After his discharge, Adolph returned to Thorp and worked at Blue Moon Cheese Factory for a short time, before moving to Minneapolis and working for Land O’ Lakes.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Haas on October 20, 1956.  Also in 1956, Adolph opened his own shoe repair business.  He later drove bus for Rosemeyer Bus Service in Thorp, and in 1966, he became a custodian at the Thorp Elementary School, where he worked until his retirement in 1998.  He was best known for the special tune he whistled in the school halls and his greetings to the teachers with "Hi Ya, Kid."  Adolph continued to operate his shoe repair business after his retirement up until the time of his death.

Adolph enjoyed going out for Sunday morning breakfast with his family, chocolate peanut butter ice cream, and chocolate candy.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and following them in all of their activities.

He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Thorp American Legion Post #118, and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Thorp; two sons: Mark (Sally) Koltis and Scott (Marilyn) Koltis, both of Thorp; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Sarah, Nathan, Hannah and Katie.  He is further survived by three  brothers: Walter Koltis and Joe (Karen) Koltis, both of Thorp, and Jerry Koltis of Chicago; five sisters: Leocadia Bogue, Adella Abramczak and Harriet Smiderski, all of Chicago, Helen (Charles) Frinack of Thorp, and Sister Kathleen Koltis of Stevens Point; one sister-in-law, Katie Koltis of CA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Genevieve Lewerenz; and four brothers: Edward, Ben, Frank and Ted Koltis.

His sense of humor and love for his family and friends will sadly be missed.
