Young, Celia (01 JULY 1916-28 OCT 1947)

 

Mrs. Bert Young, 52, died Sunday morning, Nov. 2, her death being the result of burns suffered at her home on Oct. 28, in a kerosene explosion.

 

Mrs. Young, nee Celia Clouse, was born in Loyal on Aug. 29, 1895, the daughter of Charles and the late Edith Clouse.

 

She received her education at the Mack school, which was named for the first white settlers in the town of Loyal, one of these, Erastus Mack being the maternal grandfather of Mrs. Young.

 

On July 1, 1916, she was united in marriage to Bert Young at Loyal. She resided on farms in the Loyal vicinity all of her life. Hers was a quiet, retiring nature, and her greatest interests in life were her home and her family.

 

Surviving, besides her husband, are six children, Mrs. Edgar (Edith) Verhalen, Mrs. William (Luella) Butterbrodt and Mrs. Vernon (Hazel) Rogstad, all of route two, and Norma and Calvin at home; a step-son, Harold Young, of Tomahawk, two sisters, Mrs. Lida Boldt of Milwaukee and Mrs. Nellie Newell of Mount Vernon, O.; four brothers, Lee Clouse of Loyal, Ira Clouse of Marshfield, Irvin Clouse of Mount Angel, Ore., and Louis Clouse of Taylor, and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clouse. A brother Lyle preceded her in death.

 

Mrs. Young was a member of the Methodist church, where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4 with the Rev. Lee Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Loyal cemetery. Mrs. Ray Prior and Mrs. Calvin Prior sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Miss Donna Mae Gotter as accompanist.

 

Pall bearers were Joe Wendel; Oscar Neeb, Vernon Finch, Clem Rous, William Demuth and Gilbert Kruger. The many floral offerings were carried by Mrs. George Fricke, Mrs. H. Kruger, Mrs. Oscar Neeb, Mrs. Wm. Demuth, Mrs. Clem Rous, and Mrs. Gilbert Kruger.

 

Relatives attending the funeral from away were: Mrs. Nellie Newell of Mount Vernon, O.; James Vogel, Mrs. Lida Boldt, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Young and Mrs. Gordon Lawrence of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Clouse and children of Taylor; Mrs. Harold Young of Tomahawk; Mrs. Florence Fox and daughter, Ruth, and Mr. and Mrs. Asa Fox of Hixton; Mrs. Dorie Racine and daughters, Doreen Racine and Carol Clouse, of Marquette, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Weaver of Pontiac, Ill.; Mrs. Harry Reigel of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. John Sweeney of Endeavor; Mr. and Mrs. James Young of Willard; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Clouse and Mrs. Robert Reigel of Marshfield; and Mrs. Bessie Spry of Nekoosa.
