Arola, Beverly (19 MAY 1956)

Miss Beverly Geraldine Arola and Irving Carl Ruff, both of Eau Claire, were married at the Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 19th, 1956, at 1:30 p.m.  Rev. John Saarinen and the Rev. Henry Aukee performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Arola of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Ruff, Eleva.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father.  She wore a floor length gown of French Chantilly lace and tulle over bridal satin.  The bodice had tapered wrist length sleeves and a modified scoop neckline edged in a re-embroidered scallop pattern set with tiny sequins.  Alternate panels of lace and net created the hoop skirt.

Her fingertip length veil of silk illusion fell from a beaded tiara of seed pearls and sequins.  She carried a cascade bouquet of sweetheart roses and stephanotis with white streamers.

Miss Virginia Havelin of Owen served her cousin as maid of honor.  She wore a shrimp colored gown of nylon lace and net over taffeta, styled with a staples bodice and matching lace jacket.  The skirt was a panel of net down the front and back with side ruffles of lace and net.  She carried a crescent shaped bouquet of light blue carnations.

Serving as bridesmaids were Miss Thelma Ruff, sister of the groom, and Miss Joanne Flynn of Denver, Colo.  They were attired in pastel blue gowns styled identical to that of the maid of honor, and carried crescent shaped bouquets of shrimp colored carnations.

Jean Blomquist, the groom’s niece, was flower girl.  She wore a white dress with a hoop skirt and lace bodice with cap sleeves and gauntlets, and carried a basket of blue carnations.

Adrian Kjesbo, Eau Claire, and nephew of the groom, carried the rings.

Best man was the groom’s brother, Melvin Ruff, and groomsmen were Danny Arola of Owen and Roger Henning, Fall Creek.  Ushers were Donald Ruff, brother of the groom, and LeRoy Parve, Milwaukee, cousin of the bride.

Soloist was Charlotte Mathews, classmate of the bride.  Selections chosen for the occasion were "Because" and the "Lord’s Prayer."  Mrs. Laura Maki of Edgar was organist.

The reception was held in the church parlors following the ceremony.  The couple then left on their wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and Canada.  Mrs. Ruff selected a white linen suit with blue accessories for her going away costume.

The young couple will reside at 231 ½ 3rd St., Eau Claire, after May 28th.

The bride is a graduate of Luther Hospital School of Nursing and is now employed there.  The groom was recently discharge from the U. S. Army and will be employed at the U. S. Rubber Co. in Eau Claire.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Eau Claire, Alma, Owen, Withee, Merrill, Edgar, Madison and Milwaukee, Wis.; Minneapolis, Hanska and Winona, Minn.
