Anderson, Vivian (13 JUN 1921 - 29 JUN 1956)

Mrs. Vivian Elaine Anderson, nee Wilke, the wife of Randall Anderson, was born June 13, 1921, at Curtiss (Clark Co.), Wis., the daughter of Ott Wilke and his wife, Ethel, nee Stephens.  Early in life she was received into the fellowship of the Christian Church and the Triune God through the sacrament of Holy Baptism, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester.  Here she was also confirmed in her early teens.

She was united in the bonds of matrimony with Randall Anderson on June 28, 1947, at St. Paul, Minn.  He had been previously married and she became the stepmother of his four children: Betty (Mrs. George Loendorf of Milwaukee, Wis.), Joyce, Andree and Randall, Jr.  The marriage was exactly nine years and one day old at the time of her death.

After a brief but severe illness, during which time she was hospitalized at the Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley, Wis., she passed away on Friday evening, June 29, 1956, at the age of 35 years and 16 days.

She is bereaved by her sorrowing husband and the four step-children named before; also her mother, Mrs. Howard Durbin, Withee; two full brothers, Virgil of Marshfield and Cpl. Verlyn Wilke of Camp Pendleton, Calif., a half brother, Robert Durbin, and his sister, June Durbin of Withee.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, July 2, at 2:00 o’clock from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home at Owen.  Pastor Theodore Predoehl of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, spoke words of comfort based on Galatians 6, Verse 14: "God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ."  Mrs. Theodore Klabon, accompanied by Mrs. Herman Rabska, sang the hymns, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "The Old Rugged Cross."  Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Uno Bakke, Harold Williams, Clarence Mertens, Howard Rabska, Frank Hendricks and Ted Petke.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Harvey Rosenquist, Mrs. Herbert Kuelar and Mrs. Cathy Bulgrin.
