Rasmussen, Evelyn May (8 SEP 1956)

The Rev. David Fuill performed the double ring ceremony at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Minneapolis Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8th, 1956, which united in marriage Miss Evelyn May Rasmussen and Floyd Dean Hodnett.  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Rasmussen of Webster, South Dakota, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Willard Patten of Withee (Clark Co.), Wis.

The bride carried a spray of red roses, white stephanotis and carnations.  She wore a floor length gown of net over satin and a lace apron tunic.  The bodice was of lace with long tapering sleeves coming to a point at the wrist and the illusion necklace of net offset the neckline.  Her French illusion fingertip length veil fell from a rhinestone and sequin crown.

Bernice Rasmussen, the bride’s sister, was maid of honor.  She wore a gown of shrimp with a lace bodice and jacket, a ruffled net skirt with a lace panel in the front and back.  She wore a headpiece fashioned with pearl and net ruffle.  Miss Rasmussen carried a bouquet of shrimp and white carnations and stephanotis.

Miss Alyce Bekuis a friend, served as bridesmaid.  Her blue gown was styled identically to that of the maid of honor.

Eldon Miller of Dallas, Wis., attended the groom as best man.  Groomsman was Dale Erickson of Minneapolis.

Lionell Simondson sang the "Lord’s Prayer" as the couple knelt at the altar and exchanged rings.

A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Cashin following the ceremony.  Tables were decorated in shrimp tulle and blue and shrimp candles.  A three tier wedding cake with miniature bride and groom adorned the top of the cake.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Wisconsin, South Dakota, Minneapolis and Illinois.

The young couple will make their home at 1511 2nd Ave. South, Minneapolis.
