Waage, Rev. J. (14 Apr 1845 - 18 Feb 1913) 
 

Rev. J. Waage, the Norwegian pastor of this city, died at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 18th.  Deceased was born in Norway April 14, 1845, and came to America in 1874.  He studied for the ministry at the Norwegian Lutheran institutions at Decorah, Ia., and Madison, Wis., graduating from the latter place in 1878.  Since that time he had held his work as minister in the Norwegian Synod, where he has served congregations at Prairie Farm, Bloomer, Sand Creek and Colfax, Wis.  In 1908 he came to Neillsville and has ministered to the Norwegian congregation here and also at Marshfield and Phillips. 
 

Rev. Waage had been sick since last November from a complication of diseases, and about a week ago pneumonia set in, which resulted in his death.  The funeral will take place today (Thursday).  Services will be held at the Norwegian church at 9:30 o’clock a.m. and the remains will then be taken to Sand Creek, Wis., for burial.
