Colby, Emma (23 APR 1892 - 26 OCT 1956)
Emma Colby was born in Rambletown, Mich., April 23, 1892. She was married to Jim Colby on July 10, 1912, at Victoria Mich. They resided at Unity until 1943 when they moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.). She passed away on Oct. 26, 1956 at Sacred Heart Hospital at Eau Claire. She had been a patient there for about 10 days.
She is survived by her husband and three children, Rhea Dietsche, Owen, Bert Colby of Eau Claire, and Richard Colby of Milwaukee. She had been a member of Rebecca Lodge for 40 years and a Sunday school teacher in the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Methodist Ladies Aid of Unity.
Services were held Monday, Oct. 29, at the Hoeper & Kraut Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Ward officiating. Two songs were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Ted Domer, with Mrs. Wagner accompanying on the organ. Floral offerings were carried by members of the Rebecca Lodge. There was a Rebecca service at 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Wm. Mattson, Walter Lipprandt, Wm. Domer, Earl Sulter, Fred Dietsche and W. O. Colby. Burial was in the Unity Cemetery.
Mrs. Colby was a gracious understanding woman, being the possessor of the many fine attributes that reflect themselves into womanhood and in turn into her family and their happy environment.
