Gronek, Sophie R. #2 (29 JUN 1957)

Gladioli banked the altar and aisles of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Chicago, Ill., Saturday, when Miss Sophie Gronek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gronek, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), was taken in marriage by Eddie Filipek, son of Mrs. Catherine Price, Chicago.  The Rev. Fr. Weber officiated at the 10 o’clock services.

The bride came down the aisle under flower arches, escorted by her father.  Silk illusion was fashioned into her floor length gown with the bustled back falling to a chapel length train.  Sequins sparkled on the Sabrina neckline of the bodice.  Illusion was also featured in the veil that fell from her Juliet cap of sequins and pearls.  Small streamers were attached to her bouquet of white orchids and roses.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, the bride place a bouquet of white carnations on the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The bride’s sister, mrs. Helen Polak, was matron of honor.  Her strapless gown was of blue nylon chiffon with matching sweetheart headpiece.  The blue of the gown was carried out in the blue satin ribbon that tied her bouquet of yellow roses.  Miss Marline Ciolkosz, Chicago, Mrs. Frances Smigla, Chicago, and Mrs. Loretta Burzynski, a sister of the groom, were bridesmaids.  They were dressed identical to the matron of honor.  The bride’s niece, Frances Gronek, and the groom’s niece, Bonnie Flynn, were dressed in similar blue chiffon dresses and headpieces.  As flower girls, they carried baskets of yellow roses.

The attendants were escorted by Bernard Sawicki, best man, and Edward Gronek, brother of the bride, Stanley Doblin, a friend of the groom, and Harry Burzynski, brother-in-law of the groom, groomsmen.

The wedding party was completed by Gail Burzynski, Chicago, and her brother, Garry Burzynski, as a miniature bride and groom.

A noon breakfast was given for the immediate families and bridal party with a reception in the evening for 300 guests in the S. and S. Hall in Chicago.  An orchestra provided music for guests from Detroit, Mich., Minneapolis, Minn., Streator, Chicago, and Lyons, Ill., Thorp, Withee and Curtiss.

When they return from their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Chicago where they are both employed.
