Horgen, Donna Mae (13 February 1951 - 1 June
Donna M. Horgen, age 59, of Thorp, passed away at
Colonial Center, in Colby, on Tuesday, June 1,
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on
Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Thorp. Rev. Daniel Welch officiated and burial followed in
East Thorp Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Larry Haas, Mark Person, Glen
Vetterkind, Chad Vetterkind, Travis Hemmer and Jeremy Szemraj.
Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Friday, June 4, 2010
from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation was also held at the
church, on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of
Donna Mae Person was born on February 13, 1951 in
Eau Claire, WI, the daughter of Roy and Lucille (Schultz)
Person. She was raised on a farm southeast of Gilman and
received her education at area schools, graduating from Gilman High
School in 1970. After completing high school, Donna attended
flight attendant school in Minneapolis. She then worked at
Cliff’s Cleaners, in Thorp, for five years, and then in the
bakery/deli at Pabich’s Grocery store for five years.
She was united in marriage on November 4, 1978 to Larry Horgen at
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp. After her
marriage, Donna worked at the Stanley IGA for three years and then
babysat for Scott and Nancy Hunter for six years. In her
spare time, Donna loved gardening, fishing, parades and holidays,
and taking care of children. She was a member of St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church and its Ladies
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Larry
Horgen, of Thorp; two children: Ryan Horgen of Thorp and Sara
Horgen of Thorp; one grandson, Walker Horgen of Thorp; her father
and step-mother, Roy (Shirley) Person of Thorp; five sisters: Diane
(Glen) Vetterkind of Thorp, Judy (Joe) Szemraj of Lublin, Jane
(Dave) Metzke of Marshfield, Bonnie Haas of Chippewa Falls, and Sue
Person of Gilman; four brothers: Mike (Cherri) Person of Withee,
Jeff Person of Thorp, Russ (Penny) Person of Thorp and Mark
(Carrie) Person of Gilman; several nieces, nephews, other relatives
and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille
Person, and one sister, Barbie Person.
