Fricke, Mary (17 APR 1948)

Miss Mary Jeanne Fricke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fricke and Gordon Goehring, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Goehring, repeated marriage vows before the Rev. Lee H. Holmes in the Loyal Methodist church on Saturday afternoon, Apr. 17, in a double ring ceremony. The chancel of the church was decorated with baskets of cut flowers and lighted tapers in candelabra.

The bride’s sister, Miss Joann Fricke, was maid of honor, and Duane Bassett of Fort Wayne, Ind., served as best man. The wedding party also included another sister of the bride, Jeannine Young, and a sister of the groom, Kathleen Cook, as bridesmaids, and Loraine Cook and Dale Young, as groomsmen. Little Ruth Ann Goehring, sister of the groom, was flower girl. Martin Budtke and Bill Catlin ushered.

The bride wore an entrained gown of white ninon, fashioned with long sleeves and ruffles down the back. Her fingertip veil was trimmed with lace, and she carried a bouquet of roses.

The orchid gown wore by the maid of honor was styled similarly to the bride’s and she wore a matching hat. Her flowers were pink Delight roses. The bridesmaids were dressed in Yellow and aqua, respectively. They carried bouquets of aqua-colored carnations and yellow jonquils. The flower girl wore a floor length gown of white.

Mrs. Albert Anderson, acting as organist, played the processional and recessional nuptial marches and also accompanied the soloists, Miss Pat Morrow, who sang "Because," and Mrs. Bryon Zepplin, who sang "The Lord’s Prayer."

A dinner was served to 100 guests in the church parlors following the ceremony. The dining room was decorated with streamers of pastel shades, flowers and candles, with the traditional wedding cake centering the bridal table. A wedding dance was held at Colby in the evening.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of the Loyal high school with the class of 1945. Mr. Goehring, a veteran of 18 months service in the recent war, is now employed at Hug;s Surge service store. His bride has been employed at Wepfer’s Pharmacy.

Out of town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kruger and Mr. and Mrs. Holden Leitz and son, Carl of Coloma, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fricke of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Quinn of Westfield, Mr. and Mrs. William Lock and family of Watkins, Minn., Mrs. J. J. Kromer of Appleton, Jack Kruger of Janesville, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kuethe and two children and Mrs. Esther Morrow of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Haakon Ystad, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Ystad, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ystad, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Melius of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Philpott.
