Heck, Floyd Eli #2 (17 March 1918 - 5 July 2010)

 

Floyd Eli Heck, 92, of Greenwood died July 5, 2010, at Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation, where he had been for one week.

 

Floyd E. "Short" Heck was born March 17, 1918, in the Town of York, to Eli J. and Laura (Neiderwerfer) Heck.  He attended Oriole Grade School, Town of York, and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1938.  He was united in marriage to Harriett M. Feirn Sept. 25, 1941, in Decorah, IA.  She died April 24, 1997.

 

Starting in high school, Floyd worked for the A & P store in Neillsville for seven years.  He farmed in the Town of Eaton until his time of death.  He also drove truck, hauling grain and cattle for 20 years.  Floyd was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church, Pine Valley, and served for seven years on the Mound School Board.

 

He is survived by his children, Tracy (Kay) Heck, Sheldon (Marie) Heck and Harvey (Linda) Heck, all of Greenwood; son-in-law, Aaron Bloch, Neillsville; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Anita Heck, Marshfield.

 

He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Harvey and Ervin; daughter, Judith Bloch; granddaughter, Heather Bloch and great-grandson, Dylan Bloch.

 

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Zion American Lutheran Church, Pine Valley, with Revs. Keith Lueneberg and Douglas Bjerke officiating.  Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Buchanan Funeral home in Neillsville and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Heck and Chuck Johnson.

 

The Buchanan Funeral Home of Neillsville assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
