Shields, Georgene Mary (Marriage - 18 August 1928)

Theodore Burghard Brameld and Miss Georgene Mary Shields were married at the Episcopal Cathedral at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Saturday evening, August 19, 1928, at 7:30 p.m. in the presence of relatives.

Bishop Reginald Weller performed the ceremony, using the ring service.

The groom was attended by his cousin, Dr. Bernard Churchill, and the bridesmaid was Miss Alice Shields, sister of the bride.

The bride wore a white satin gown and a veil of real lace, which fell to the floor. She carried a bouquet of pink roses.

It was very fitting that Bishop Weller should read the simple and (lines were missing).

The bride and groom are both graduates of Ripon College of the Class of 1926.

Theodore was born and reared in Neillsville, graduated from Neillsville High School in the Class of 1922, entering Ripon College the next school year.  For the past two years he has held the position of field secretary for Ripon College.  He has obtained a year’s leave of absence and the young couple will live in Chicago this next year where Theodore will attend the University and obtain a master’s degree.

His bride taught in Plymouth, Wis.  She has often been a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Brameld, both in Neillsville and Chippewa Falls.  She is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shields of Ripon, where she was born and raised.

The grooms parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Brameld of Chippewa Falls were present among other relatives.

The young couple left immediately for "Silver-Sands", a cottage on Lake Michigan, near Port Washington, where they will spend two weeks.

Many Neillsville people will join the Press in offering this young couple congratulations and sincere good wishes. The groom is a Youngman of marked talent.  As a boy in school and in the usual boyhood activities he was one of the outstanding characters among our young people, because of his earnestness in his work and his genius for making friends.  To him and his bride go our hopes for continued success and happiness through the years to come.
