Wagner, Bonnie Jean (4 April 1941 - 1 July 2010)

Bonnie Jean Hughes Wagner, beloved wife of William Wagner, took her final journey July 1, 2010.

She was born in Neillsville to Gertrude and Donald Hughes April 4, 1941. A graduate of Neillsville High School and the University of Wisconsin, Bonnie worked as a physical therapist; they lived in Ft. Rucker, AL, Detroit, MI, Kansas City, MO, Long Island, NY, Sparta, NJ, finally moving to Seattle in 1979 and Camano Island, WA, in 1994.

With her husband she raised three children, Ann (Winterthur, DE), Keith and Amy (both of Castle Rock, CO), and hosted seven international exchange students.

Affectionately called "Her Majesty," Bonnie was a generous leader and organizer for the family, church and numerous community events.  She cherished friendships with folks at the Camano Island Yacht Club and adored visiting friends during stateside, Canadian and international trips and sailing adventures.  Her beautiful soprano voice was part of church choirs and local chorales.  Bonnie shared her passion for the arts, sciences and learning with many via the Shoreline schools and Arts Council, Seattle Symphony and the local AAUW.

She is survived by her husband, William; twin sister, Bettie, of Vancouver, BC; sister, Mary, of Burlington, WA; and brother, Michael, of San Jose, CA; three children and seven grandchildren.

We sorely miss her loving grace and we wish her God’s peace. As dear friend, Audrey, said, "The world has lost a shining star, and heaven has gained another."

A memorial service was held Sunday July 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Camano Lutheran Church, Camano Island, WA.
