Hansen, Marie (99^th Birthday - 19 January 1959)

Mrs. Marie Hansen celebrated her 99^th birthday at the Neillsville Nursing Home Monday.  Her daughter, Mrs. Irwin (Tena) Grassman and her grandson, Lloyd Grassman of Chili, visited her and helped in the celebration.  A birthday cake was furnished by Mr. Grassman.  Her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Macomber of New Lisbon, visited her Sunday in a pre-birthday celebration.  Mr. Macomber is a former principal of Granton High School.

Mrs. Hansen was born in Denmark and came to America when she was 28 years of age, locating at New Lisbon.  She was married and made her home there until 20 years ago, when she came to Clark County to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Grassman, in the Town of Fremont, three miles northeast of Granton.

A year ago, with an infection in a foot, Mrs. Hansen was brought to Neillsville and has been at the Nursing home since.  Her vision and hearing are impaired, and she is now confined to her bed; but otherwise she is enjoying good health. She spent much time reading and knitting until her sight failed her.
