Vanderhoof, Archie B. (20 DEC 1932 - 21 SEP 2010)

 

ARPIN -- Archie B. Vanderhoof Sr., 77, of Arpin died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Rembs Funeral Home with the Rev. Lindy Nelson officiating. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery, Spencer. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons Gary, Greg, Ricky and Josh Vanderhoof, Gary Brey Jr. and Brian Dupee Jr.

 

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

 

Archie was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Spencer to Benjamin and Myra (Cole) Vanderhoof. He was united in marriage to Nila J. Nelson on Feb. 2, 1952, in Chili.

 

After his education, he worked at Brillion Iron Works, and then took over the family farm in Spencer. He later worked for Barr Minkery when he lived in Globe.

 

They moved to Kenosha in 1957 and worked at American Motor and American Brass. He also worked on road construction in the Kenosha area.

 

They moved to Spencer in 1974 where they owned the Hotel Bar until July 1976, then moved to Arpin. In August 1976, Archie began work at Weyerhaeuser until he retired in July 1995.

 

Archie enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He also enjoyed working in his yard, with flowers, taking Sunday drives, remodeling and woodworking.

 

He is survived by his wife, Nila; children, Ruben Vanderhoof of Stratford, Dennis Vanderhoof of Kenosha, Ricky (Joan) Vanderhoof of Kenosha, Dawn (Gary) Brey of Somers, Norman (Eileen) Vanderhoof of Marshfield, Annette (Jerry) Kleinschmidt of Neillsville, Archie (Carolyn) Vanderhoof Jr. of Marshfield, David Vanderhoof of Arpin, Nancy (Brian) Dupee of Arpin and Lisa (Michael) Lyons of Loyal; 28 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Charles (Ruth) Vanderhoof of Colby; sisters-in-law, Ruby (Alvin) Heckel of Marshfield, Carol Harriman of Marshfield, Marion Nelson of Spencer and Lila Nelson of Marshfield; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and nine sisters.
