Schlagenhaft, Margaret I. (23 JUN 1951)

Miss Margaret Isabelle Schlagenhaft, Minneapolis, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schlagenhaft, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Donald Gordon Jackman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jackman, Minneapolis, during a double ring ceremony performed at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 1951, in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, by the Rev. Norbert King.

The bride chose a bridal gown of silk organdy over satin designed with a scalloped embroidered bodice with the same design extending down the front to form an overskirt with scalloped edging.  Her mitts were also made of embroidered organdy, and her fingertip veil of imported French silk illusion fell from a heart shaped lace tiara with the edge trimmed with orange blossoms.  She carried a nosegay of sweetheart roses and swansonia.

Mrs. James Owen, Chippewa Falls, as matron of honor, wore a pale orchid organdy gown, and the bridesmaid, Mrs. Shirley Mavasek, Minneapolis, was attired in a pale green organdy over rayon taffeta.  The yokes were embroidered organdy, and the bodices were scalloped.  Matching mitts completed their ensembles and each carried a nosegay bouquet of sweetheart roses and daisies with sprays of the same flowers in their hair.

Robert Jackman, Minneapolis, the groom’s brother, was best man, and Kenneth Larson, Minneapolis, served as groomsman.

A breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony.  Covers were laid for 50 guests at the dinner served in the church parlors, and a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. concluded the day’s festivities.

The bride, a graduate of Loyal High School, attended Eau Claire State College for a year, and graduated from the Glenwood Hills Hospital School of Psychiatric Nursing, where she is employed as a night supervisor.

The groom graduated from a high school in Minneapolis, served in the U.S. Navy for three years, and was with the Merchant Marines for two years.  He is now employed as a carpenter for the Peterson Construction Co., Minneapolis, where the couple will reside.
