Ledger, Ora Lee (25 AUG 1951)

Officiating at the marriage of Miss Ora Lee Ledger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Ledger, 912 S. Cedar St., Marshfield, to Joseph C. Roth, Milwaukee, which was solemnized at Marshfield Saturday morning, Aug. 25th, 1951, at 9 o’clock in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, was the pastor, the Rev. Edmund Cramer, cousin of the bride’s mother.

Attending the couple were the bride’s sister, Miss Darlene Ledger, as maid of honor; the groom’s sister, Miss Loretta Roth, Milwaukee, and Miss Arlene Hardinger, bridesmaids; the groom’s niece, Joanne Roth of Unity, flower girl; the bride’s nephew, David Rand of Chili, ring bearer; and the bride’s brothers, Roland of Chicago and Robert, as best man and groomsman, respectively.  The groom’s brothers, Raphael of Cudahy and Donald of Milwaukee, were ushers.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin, designed with tight bodice, long sleeves coming to a point over the wrist, and paneled front, which was trimmed with roses of the same material.  A tiara held her lace edged veil.  Rubrum lilies, white roses, baby mums and strands of ivy were combined in her crescent shaped bouquet.

Blue taffeta, with a fitted bodice of lace, was worn by the maid of honor, and her bouquet featured blue gladioli, white swansonia, and salal foliage.  Yellow and orchid, respectively, were chosen by Miss Roth and Miss Hardinger for their formals, and their bouquets, similar to the one carried by Miss Ledger, had gladioli of contrasting colors.  Rubrum lilies, white gladioli and salal leaves were carried by the flower girl, whose dress was of white taffeta.

At the close of the double ring service the choir sang "On This Day O Beautiful Mother" while the bridal pair placed a bouquet of white, yellow, and orchid gladioli on the altar of the Blessed Virgin.

After the ceremony breakfast was served at the home of the bride, and at noon 70 guests were entertained at dinner in Sacred Heart School Hall, where approximately 100 attended a reception from 3 to 6 p.m.  Among the guests were the groom’s parents and the following other relatives and friends from out of town:  Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hirsch, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Roth and family, Miss Rita Roth, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Foster and family, Milwaukee; Miss Lois Ledger, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Raphael Roth, Cudahy; Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Foster and family, west Bend; Mr. and Mrs. George Roth and family, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rand and family, Chili; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ebsen and family, Wis. Rapids; Mrs. Raphael Haas and family, Duane Mrotek, and William Catlin, Loyal.

When the couple left on a wedding trip to the southern part of the state the bride wore a black and white checked wool gabardine suit, with a corsage of baby mums and carnations.

The groom is graduate of the Loyal High School class of 1948, and is employed as telegrapher by the Soo at Fond du Lace, in which city the newlyweds will reside.  Mrs. Roth, a graduate of the Marshfield Senior High School, class of 1950, has been employed at Hoppy’s Café.
