Stumm, Fred H. (20 JAN 1890 - 26 JAN 1956)

 

Funeral services for Fred H. Stumm, 66, father of Jim Stumm of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), were held Monday at 9 a.m. at Notre Dame Church at Chippewa Falls.  Burial was in Hope Cemetery there.

 

Mr. Stumm died Thursday a.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.  He was born Jan. 20, 1890, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Fred and Anna Stumm.  He had been a resident of Chippewa Falls his entire life.  On May 25, 1915, he married Miss Lillian Cooney at Notre Dame Church.

 

Mr. Stumm operated the Stumm Hatchery for 35 years.  He was a member of the National Poultry and Hatchery Federation.  He was appointed postal clerk at Chippewa Falls Post Office in October, 1920.  He transferred to a city carrier in August, 1935, and in July, 1943, transferred to rural carrier, which position he held until his retirement from active service on Nov. 30, 1955.

 

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Fred H., Jr. of Bloomer, and Jim E. of Thorp; two daughters, Mrs. P. W. Murphy of Bloomer and Mrs. Walter C. Hebert of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Peter of Fond du Lac and Dewey, Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Marquis, Laguna Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Harold Waarvick, Denver, Colo.; and 15 grandchildren.
