Jones, Frank R. (1890? - 7 JUL 1956)

Frank R. Jones, 66, of Altoona, Wis., visiting here with his wife at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Katherine Weber, was fatally stricken with a heart attack about 9:30 a.m. Saturday while walking to the post office.  He was just passing the Joe Wojtalewicz store in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

Passersby came to his aid when he fell and a doctor was at his side within minutes but he failed to regain consciousness.

For the past 51 years Mr. Jones was employed as a machinist by the Omaha Railroad.  He was a member of the Benefit Association Railway Employees, the Machinists Union, the Holy Name Society and a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, the former Irma Mertens; two sisters, Mrs. George Rock and Mrs. Mary Brott of Altoona, and a brother, John, of Tomah.

The Rev. Michael Mertens, St. Mary’s Church, Viroqua, Wis., was celebrant of a solemn requiem high mass at 9:00 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church in Altoona, the Rev. James E. Noonan, O.M.I., deacon and the Rev. Jerome Palmer, O.S.B., sub-deacon.

Burial was made in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Altoona.
