Badzinski, Dorothy A. (7 JUL 1956)

Rainbow colored gowns of two tone net over taffeta, floor length, were worn by the attendants at the wedding Saturday morning, July 7, 1956, of Miss Dorothy A. Badzinski and James E. Stephens, which occurred in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp.  The Rev. Francis Piekarski heard the nuptials of the son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stephens, Owen, and Mr. and Mrs. John Badzinski, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

Miss Bernice Butterfield, Thorp, was maid of honor, and Howard Van Den Heuvel was best man.  Other principals in the bridal party were Miss Jean Badzinski, Thorp, the bride’s sister; Miss Terry Hildebrandt, Chili; Miss Delores Szczeck, Greenwood, a cousin; Calvin Orgle, and John D. Badzinski, the bride’s brother.

Karen Badzinski, the bride’s little sister, was flower girl.  Her dress was styled similarly to the bride’s with the exception that it had a Peter Pan collar and puff sleeves.  Mark Frederick, the groom’s nephew, carried the rings.

The mothers of the bride and groom w. ore orchid corsages and the grandmothers wore white carnations.

Norman Fredrick, the groom’s brother-in-law, and Gene Telin, his cousin, were in charge of ushering.

Also in the bridal group were Kathy Badzinski, Thorp, cousin of the bride; Ruth Van Den Heuvel, Cadott; Chris Strzok, Gilman, her cousin; Audrey Ness, Mondovi; Una Bell Fredrick, Neenah, the groom’s sister, and Mary Ann Kryzanski, Thorp.

Matching net stoles covered the strapless bodices of their dresses styled with ribbon bows and streamers.  The colonial type gowns had skirts fashioned of rows of net ruffles over taffeta.  Completing their outfits were picture hats with ribbon streamers.  Purple, orchid and white asters filled their flat baskets which were decorated with complementing ribbons.

French Chantilly lace over bridal satin fashioned the bride’s gown which had a full cathedral train.  The long tapering sleeves were buttoned at the wrists, and the fitted bodice had a scoop yoke neckline with a lace court collar.  Lace and tulle ruffles swept from the waistline of the very full skirt.  Her modified bonnets of lace and pearls held a veil of imported silk illusion in fingertip length.  Three lavender orchids centered her crescent shaped bouquet of white carnations.

Dinner in St. Hedwig’s Hall followed the ceremony, and the reception began at 5:30 o’clock.  The couple, honeymooning in northern Wisconsin, will live at Rhinelander.  He is employed at the Thorp Finance Corp. there, and she will work at Grace’s Beauty Shop.  The latter graduated from Thorp High School and has completed a cosmetology course at Eau Claire.  Her husband, who attended Wis. State College, River Falls, is an Owen High School graduate.
