Suckow, Linda (Marriage - 1 August 1959)

On a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and Michigan are the former Miss Linda Suckow and Roger Grottke, who were married Saturday in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Norman Lindloff in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Neillsville.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Suckow of Rt. 1, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Grottke of Neillsville.

Baskets of snapdragons and gladioli graced the altar and on either side were baskets of hydrangeas and gladioli.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor-length gown of imported rosepoint lace, hand clipped, and nylon tulle over satin. The very full bouffant skirt was complimented by lace paneling that extended into a chapel train.  The fitted bodice was fashioned with a pearl and sequin-studded Sabrina neckline, with long fitted sleeves buttoned at the wrist.  She carried a cascade bridal bouquet of yellow and white carnations, entwined with ivy.

Miss Faye Vine of Duluth, Minn., was her cousin’s maid-of-honor.  Bridesmaids were Miss Doris Holtz and Miss Nancy Kuehn, both of Neillsville.  The attendants were dressed in cotillion blue floor-length dresses of nylon chiffon over tulle and taffeta, with matching headpieces and veils. They carried crescent bouquets of Fuji chrysanthemums.

The groom was attended by the bride’s brother, Glenn Suckow, as best man.  Groomsmen were Richard Kapfer, Neillsville, and Merlin Payne, of Wisconsin Rapids.  Ushers were Fred Vine, Duluth, Minn., and Adrian Hubing, Neillsville.

Mrs. Irvin Marg, soloist, accompanied at the organ by Victor Lehman, sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "Whither Thou Goest."

Approximately 250 guests attended a reception in the Legion Hall.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School and from a two year course at Wisconsin State College in Eau Claire.  She will teach art and music in Greenwood elementary schools during the coming school term.

The groom also a graduate of Neillsville High School is employed at Suckow’s feed mill in the Town of Grant.
