Mashin, Jerry (Accident - 1959)

When he fell asleep at the wheel of his car, Jerry Mashin, 19, Humbird, hit the ditch, was thrown from his car and sustained fractured ribs, injuries to his nose and face, and to his right chest and side.

"I guess I fell asleep," he explained.  "I don’t remember a thing, and when I woke up I was lying in the ditch."

The accident occurred late Saturday night on Highway 10, three and one-half miles east of Neillsville, in front of the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Suckow.

An ambulance brought Jerry to Memorial Hospital, arriving at 12:10 a.m.

The car in which Jerry was riding alone was considerably damaged.

Jerry is the son of Ed Mashin of Humbird and is a nephew of Albert Mashin of Neillsville.
