Clifford Carl Atkins, 59, of Greenwood, died suddenly, October 13, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient for two weeks.  His death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Atkins was born December 15, 1899, in the Town of Weston, at Christie.  He was educated in the Mound School.  At the age of 15 he went to Milwaukee, where he worked for some time.  The last 30 years he had been employed as a smelter in copper mines at Phillipsburg and Anaconda, Mont.  Four weeks ago he came to live in Greenwood with his sister, Mrs. Hugh (Loteen) Christie. Also surviving are two brothers, Leon of Durand, and George of Aberdeen, Wash.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. Ethel Nulton, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was made in the Christie Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: George Schafer, Pete Boon, Otto Runge, Fred Murphy, Frank Murphy and Millard Chadwick.

JoAnn Peterson and Mary Syth sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Ivory Palaces", accompanied on the organ by Mrs. William Olson.
