Strangfeld, Lena (7 September 1876 - 17 November 1959)

 

Funeral Services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral home for Mrs. Lena (Lucas) Strangfeld, 83, of Rt. 3, Neillsville, who died Tuesday. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Eisenmann of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate, and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.

 

Mrs. Strangfeld was born September 8, 1876 in Germany, and as a small child came with her parents to America.  The family located in La Salle, Ill., where she grew to womanhood.  She was married April 20, 1897, to Lucas Strangfeld in La Salle.  Following their marriage they moved to Clark County, where they farmed in the Town of Levis, latter moving onto a farm near Plainfield.  On their return to Clark County they farmed in the Town of Weston and following the death of her husband she made her home with her son, Joe Strangfeld.

 

She is survived by six children: Joseph, John, Peter, and William, all of the Neillsville area; Mrs. Gilbert (Katherine) Gibeau, Sutter Creek, Cal.; and Mrs. Dick (Elizabeth) Ableiter, Barnum, Minn.  A sister, Mrs. Anna Walking of Serena, Ill., and a brother, Peter Schepp, of Illinois, also survive, as do 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

 

A rosary service will be held this (Thursday) evening at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Strangfeld, 83, were held Friday from the Georgas Funeral Home.  The Rev. Fr. Joseph Eisenmann officiated and burial as made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Herman Schultz, Alvin Jacob, Everett Shaw, Lisle Armitage, Charles L. Schofield and Frank Zickert.

 

People from away here for the services were: Mrs. Gilbert Gibeau, Sutter Creek, Cal.; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ableiter, Barnum, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Quast, Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Lund and Harold Ableiter, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Mae Vogel, Loyal; and Mr. and Mrs. James Deacon, Eau Claire.
