Franke, Oscar Louis (10 February 1867 - 24 December 1959)

 

Funeral services were held Sunday from Christ Lutheran Church in Chili for Oscar Louis Franke, 92, who died Thursday in Neillsville from old age complications. The Rev. L. E. Schreiber officiated, and burial was made in the Yolo Cemetery.

 

Mr. Franke was born in Centerville, February 10, 1867, and on May 20, 1890, he was married to the former Anne Gother, who died in 1941.  The couple resided in Chilton until 1902, and then came to Clark County and located on a farm in the Town of Lynn, where they farmed until 1923.  At that time they moved into Chili.

 

Following the death of his wife, Mr. Franke made his home with his children until 1957, when he entered the Neillsville Nursing Home.

 

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Otto (Clara) Gaulke, Chili; Mrs. Edward (Ida) Kleinschmidt, Chili; and Mrs. Ernest (Emma) Sanger, Loyal; a brother, John Franke of Unity; and 21 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.  Other brothers and sisters surviving are: George Franke, Park Falls; Otto Franke, Chilton; Mrs. William Wagner, Granton; Mrs. John Wagner and Mrs. Alma Nelson, both of Chilton; and Mrs. Fred Reisner and Mrs. Minnie Rathert, Milwaukee.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Gilbertson Funeral Home of Granton.
